From getting up to getting around all day, help is always at hand.  There may come a time when you need more than retirement senior care or even semi-independent living.  The safe, specialized care we offer at River Bend may well be the help you need.

River Bend Specialized Assisted Living fills a niche in care for the aged with Alzheimer's or Dementia due to Pick’s disease, Parkinson's, Huntington’s or simply age, along with those suffering from the effects of Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Closed Head Injury or other neurological or physical impairments not requiring skilled nursing.

River Bend is situated on a lovely rural setting along a bend in the Belle River with decks that are wheel chair accessible.  Our especially designed spaces are there to help those with memory loss and our enclosed courtyards are lovely places to spend some time outdoors.  Both our private and companion suites have large walk-in or wheel-in showers, cable access, and wall to wall carpeting.  Computer hook-ups and internet access are available including a wireless network. 

At River Bend so many services that cost extra at many facilities are included in our rates.  We serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. We provide a wide range of activities here at River Bend and in the community. We handle administration of medications, dressing and bathing assistance and even incontinence management for no extra charge.

We have a long list of activities and special events that are a part of River Bend daily life.

  • Regularly scheduled ongoing activities have included storytelling, bingo parties, exercise sessions, eye-hand coordination games, baking class, card games, ball bounce, movie night, crafts, memory games, and many more.  We are always on the lookout for activities that are of special interest to our residents.
  • Afternoon Prayer Services are available for those residents who wish to participate.
  • We also have times when entertainers come to us. We usually have a monthly Oldies Band night, and also singers for our monthly Birthday Bash.  Of course Christmas Carolers are a must and we enjoy and appreciate every entertainer that works with us throughout the year.
  • We almost always make a weekly event of lunch and a movie, or lunch and shopping, or lunch and sun in the park.  We enjoy attending hockey, baseball, and other sporting events.  We have attended various live theatrical events and often take a summer evening trip to Marysville for their “Concert in the Park” series.  We have gone to Art Exhibits and always enjoy a new excursion as well as the old standbys.
  • Of course holidays are celebrated.  Last year we had between 200 to 300 children visit us on our “Trick or Treat Night.”  Many people and businesses donated candy and those residents who wished to participate handed out candy at the door of their suite.  Afterwards some of the children treated us to a short concert.

Our fees are all-inclusive and include the following services:

  • Every spacious suite is designed to be wheelchair accessible and offer safety and ease of use to our residents
  • A large walk-in bathroom shower in each suite that is barrier free and wheelchair accessible
  • Wall-to-wall carpeting and window blinds are included in each suite
  • Option to use the furnishings provided or provide your own familiar furniture
  • All utilities are provided including local telephone, cable, and internet access
  • Common areas feature an open floor plan
  • Hallways are joined in a continuous path circling the enclosed courtyard so no matter which way you turn you will come to your suite or the common area
  • The enclosed courtyard is a lovely, safe place to spend time outdoors
  • A front porch with rocking chairs, swing, or seating
  • Situated on 26 acres along a bend in the Belle River with decks and boardwalks that are wheelchair accessible only a short walk away
  • Free ample parking for visiting family and friends

We know that safety and security are always a high priority.

  • Secured exits that are password activated
  • Caregivers are here 24 hours a day, seven days a week
  • Even at night our caregivers are available to help those who are restless or need some type of assistance
  • All caregivers are trained in CPR and First Aid
  • Located close to River District Hospital, physician offices and other health care services
  • Ongoing level-of-care monitoring
  • Emergency call system with around the clock response
  • Automatic emergency generator on premises
